Christmas has inspired many writers to create stories that try to capture the spirit of Christmas. Lots of Christmas gift ideas. The tradition of  winter gift giving began long before Christianity gave new meaning to the custom. In Rome, rich men would give generously to their poorer neighbors during their winter solstice festivities.
