Why do Men Dread Valentine's Day?

Unfortunately many men dread such a romantic day because they do not know what to do for their sweet hearts! It is not a matter of if they are in love; it is a matter of how to express it.

Let me suggest some ways that men can have as much fun with the holiday as their sweeties! First of all, several weeks before February if possible, start taking notes about what her interests are, what colors she often wears, comments she makes on books she reads, or candy she likes, etc. If you have a good relationship with her girlfriends ask them for any insights and maybe advice on some of her favorite flowers, what she finds romantic, and perhaps her clothing size should you be considering purchasing her some type of clothing as a gift.

Here are some ideas of things to do for her:

If you are into cooking, invite her over for dinner. Or if you live together have it ready for when she gets home from work or being out somewhere. To set a romantic table be sure you have a tablecloth, a few taper candles, and perhaps pick up a small bouquet of flowers as a centerpiece. For table setting ideas you can search online.

Avid fans of being outdoors? Even if you live in a cold climate, you can drive to a secluded spot to watch the sunset. Take along a warm blanket to snuggle in and a thermos of hot chocolate or coffee to sip. Even if you stay in the car it will be something she never expected to do! If it is not too cold or you are brave, snuggle in the blanket sitting on the back of the car while you watch.

Another outdoor type winter activity that can be done together is a local ice skating rink. Some are outdoors, some indoors. After skating go to your favorite coffee shop to warm up with hot drinks.

Declare your love to the world by making a snow couple in the yard. Put a sign beside the couple that says "(your name) Loves (her name)". Surprise her by doing it while she is gone, or do it together and have some fun making them look as much like each of you as possible.

Suggestions for out of the ordinary gifts:

If she likes to keep her nails polished, give her a gift certificate to her favorite nail salon. If you don't know what salon she uses, ask her girlfriend!

Do you both like to cook? Find a pair of aprons and have your names put on them with the promise to cook romantic meals together.

Surprise her with a new bathrobe and a certificate for a massage that you give her. You can purchase massage oils at most bath and body departments of large stores or there are specific stores and online shops that sell massage products.

Does she love to go dancing but you really do not know how? You could secretly take dance lessons and surprise her by taking her out dancing to show off what you learned. Or purchase dance lesson videos / DVD's and both learn together. She will appreciate your efforts to learn something she loves.

"Borrow" her car and take it to an auto detailing shop to have it cleaned thoroughly inside and out. Present her with a new pair of driving gloves and a flower when you give her back her keys.

Does she collect figurines or some other items? Make or purchase a cabinet to display them and keep them safe.

Is there someplace she talks of visiting but never takes the time to go to see it? Perhaps an aquarium, museum or art gallery? Take her there but blind fold her on the way so she does not know where you are taking her.

Do the two of you love a type of food such as Chinese, Japanese or Italian but do not know how to make it yourself? Find out if there are cooking classes offered through adult education or maybe a local college that you can take together. Pay for the classes in advance and present her with the brochure.
